We won’t know if any speeches are given at Princess Charlotte’s christening. It will, however, be a right royal affair. Any baptism or christening though is a very special day and is, quite rightly, often celebrated with a family party. So a few meaningful words would add to what is a very special occasion. A Godparent or a parent could speak of how much the new addition means to the family and how much it is loved. It would be appropriate too to mention the fact that it is a religious occasion and to speak of the faith that is being handed on to a new generation.

A new baby is about purity and loveliness and certainly can be described as an angel or God’s gift. As the baby starts out on life’s journey it is good to know that he or she has Godparents as well as parents to support and guide him or her on the way. By giving such a speech at a baptism or christening you are marking out the day as being an important one. Obviously such a speech should end with a toast or a blessing for a baby who, on that particular day, is certainly the heart of the family.
